Did you reboot after disabling the driver signing? The drivers that are installed with Server are from OK, I was able to resolve this using the CoreFig tool. On the Hyper-V machine: I looked around a bit for PowerShell commandlets to manage devices, and found this from This is no where to be found in all the infs i went intell. So your adapter was somehow set as disabled, then?

If the driver is actually incompatible with that version of the OS, it obviously will not work, but in most cases what works on the desktop OS works ad the servers.

Purchased SSD wanted another one anyway. I wiped the drive and installed Server 2K16 Datacenter and then applied the modified driver. For now, I will use this environment to get what I need done. Ran through same successful procedure as I used on the GUI install used same modified. Downloaded and extracted with 7-Zip.

Correct on the previous driver install artifacts … pnputil -e showed entries for my last 3 attempts. Thanks a lot for sharing your solution!
